Kay Foster, MA, LLPC | Clinical Director
Kay has over 5 years of experience working with individuals and families with developmental and mental health disorders. She has worked in both direct care and case management with diverse populations, including ethnicities, religions, sexualities, and socioeconomic statuses. Kay graduated in 2017 from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in General Psychology. During this time, she was a research assistant for Western’s neuro-developmental lab. Kay graduated in 2021, again from Western, with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She was a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the counseling profession’s international honors society and one of the largest associations of professional counselors.
Kay is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC). After 3,000 hours of direct client services, she will be eligible to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). As an LLPC, Kay is supervised by Dr. Leslie Roberts and some case details will be shared with her. Both licensures emphasize client wellness and empowerment through a concentration on normal human development. Clinical mental health counselors render proper diagnosis, which provides a basis for utilizing evidence-based counseling modalities. Kay complies with the American Counseling Association’s code of ethics as well as the American Mental Health Counseling Association’s code of ethics when making any professional decisions. She is qualified to provide these services because her graduate program was accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Kay is also a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Kay’s counseling approach is rooted in the existential-humanistic philosophies, and she takes a collaborative approach to treatment. She has experience with Anxiety and Anxiety-Related Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism and Developmental Disabilities, Depression, and Sex-Related Concerns. She treats children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She has been trained in multicultural counseling approaches. Kay also offers forensic psychological evaluations and general diagnostic evaluations. Kay is the clinical director of West Michigan Psychological Services and is Ottawa County’s Head Start Mental Health Consultant. She is currently able to take the following insurances for therapy: Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Meridian Medicaid, and Molina Medicaid. She also offers a sliding-scale fee for out-of-network payers or uninsured individuals.
