Khalia Twork, EdD, LPC, CCS
Khalia has over 15 years of experience in the counseling and social services field. Khalia takes an integrative approach with her clients to help them overcome their struggles. Areas of specialization include gerontology, children and adolescents, academic underachievement, integration of step-parents into families, life coaching, family counseling, career coaching, and career assessments. Khalia works to stay on the cutting edge of counseling approaches.
Khalia’s education consists of a Master’s in Humanities and Leadership with an emphasis on Education from New College and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. In 2020, she graduated with her Doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Leadership.
Khalia has been trained in the following techniques: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She believes in fostering an environment that allows clients to grow and obtain the skills necessary to move in a positive direction. Khalia works toward creating an atmosphere that is a catalyst for positive change. Overall, Khalia is focused on helping clients obtain their goals by creating an environment that fosters their process of self-actualization. Her approach to the counseling environment is to act as a resource rather than as an expert.
