Khalia Twork, Ed.D, LPC, CCS

Khalia's education consists of a Masters in Humanities and Leadership with an emphasis on education from New College of California and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.  She has most recently completed her Doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Leadership. Aside from her education, Khalia has over 15 years of progressive experience within the counseling and within the social service field.

Khalia's years of experience working with various populations has allowed her to be able to incorporate multiple approaches and techniques that assist her clients in overcoming their struggles. Areas of specialization include working with the gerontology population, children and adolescents, academic underachievement, working with families integrating step-parents, life coaching, family counseling, career coaching, and career assessments. Khalia is consistently working to be on the cutting edge of her counseling approach.

Some of the techniques Khalia has been trained in and finds helpful when working with individuals and families are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Trauma-Focused  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT).  She believes in fostering an environment that allows clients to grow and obtained the skills necessary to move in a positive direction. Khalia works toward creating an atmosphere that is a catalyst for positive change.

Overall, Khalia is focused on helping client's obtain their goals by creating an environment that fosters their process of self-actualization. Her approach to the counseling environment is to act as a resource.
