Rebecca Hughes, TLLP

Rebecca first received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While she enjoyed working in her family business for several years, she felt a constant pull to help others. Mental health has always been an important topic in Rebecca’s life as well as an innate need in understanding why we, as human beings, do the things we do.

This path has led her to a second bachelor’s degree from Cornerstone University, in Psychology. Rebecca’s interest in social justice then guided her to Adler University in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling with a specialization in Forensic Psychology. She continued to pursue a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University as well, where she is currently in her 5th year and completing her dissertation. Rebecca resides in the West Michigan area with her dog, Remy.

Rebecca has worked with a vast array of populations and believes that every individual should have access to mental health services. Rebecca has experience working with adolescents, adults, and families.  She has worked in settings such as a psychiatric hospital, prison, half-way house, community health, youth outreach services, and private practice.

Rebecca specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, family conflict, trauma, grief, LGBTQ issues, and coping skills. Rebecca utilizes a CBT and psychoanalytic approach in her therapy and strives to understand the client from a holistic view by understanding not only themselves and the issue in the present, but also helping unravel and heal their past.
